We depart from our helipad in the morning with our guides, chef and mountain equipment. We fly west towards Yates Volcano, passing above the Puelo River. Weather permitting, we land at the base of the southern glacier and begin a guided ascent using ropes. The route offers views towards Reloncaví Fjord, Hornopirén Volcano and the Comau Channel.

The views extend east towards the snow-covered peaks and west towards the Pacific Ocean. We climb a gentle slope, taking in the views in every direction, then stop at the top to rest and take photographs. On the descent, we return to the place where our chef prepares lunch.

Seated comfortably at our outdoor table, we enjoy a Barraco sour, wine and appetisers before lunch, surrounded by snow-covered peaks. The return flight descends along the eastern side of the volcano and follows the Puelo Valley back to the lodge.
