At Barraco Lodge, we operate a Eurocopter AS350 B3 helicopter, designed to deliver power, precision and performance in high-mountain environments. Known for its reliability and capability, this model is well suited to our heli-skiing expeditions in Patagonia, where demanding terrain and changing weather require careful planning.

Certifications/Safety

Guide

Alec is an American guide with extensive experience leading heli-skiing and ski touring trips in Chile and elsewhere. He is a PSIA-certified ski instructor (Professional Ski Instructors of America) and has professional avalanche training from the American Avalanche Institute.

His deep knowledge of the terrain and passion for off-piste skiing make him an excellent companion for a memorable heli-skiing experience. Alec guides you with a focus on safety while helping you discover outstanding ski lines.

Team Avalanche

Every heli-skiing trip includes avalanche safety equipment for guides and guests.

All participants must carry:

  • An avalanche transceiver
  • A shovel
  • A probe
  • An avalanche airbag backpack

If guests do not have their own equipment, Barraco has seven complete sets available for guest use. This equipment, together with our guides’ expertise and ongoing assessment of snow and terrain conditions, supports the planning and delivery of our heli-skiing experiences.
